Our annual Christmas seminar with Matt Price Sensei kicked off with a Dan grading, followed by two outstanding classes and a fantastic day of training.
The seminar began with movement drills, ensuring everyone was light on their feet and able to change direction efficiently. This progressed into work on avoidance, focusing on moving the body to evade sweeps and jodan attacks. The session concluded with kata, exploring a different approach to practising kata effectively in limited space.
By the end of the session, there were plenty of red faces leaving the dojo.
Session two focused on Chinte, exploring the finer details along with elements of bunkai. We then moved on to Enpi, practising a more traditional, pre-competition approach that Matt Sensei learned earlier in the year while training at Keio University.
The seminar concluded with kumite, featuring fun movement and speed drills designed to encourage relaxation and fast, efficient movement. As always, it was an exceptional day, followed by food and drinks.
We are also pleased to announce that Rhys Garrett and Ryan Weston received an early Christmas present, successfully achieving Shodan. Thank you to everyone for their support and for making the day a huge success.
